Shots fired at Kansas City police twice during chase
Kansas City police came under gunfire twice Monday morning during a car chase that reached 70 mph.
Police tried to stop a car for a traffic violation near 27th Street and Bruce R. Watkins Drive shortly before 11 a.m., but the driver refused to stop. The car’s Texas plates matched a vehicle linked to an armed business robbery.
During the pursuit, an occupant of the vehicle fired a gun at police near Meyer Boulevard and Walrond Avenue. More shots were fired at officers near 63rd Street and Watkins Drive. The vehicle stopped near Gregory Boulevard and Watkins Drive. Police took five adults and one juvenile into custody.
There were no injuries, although one of the people in custody was taken to a hospital with an asthma complaint.
