Former Garmin employee sentenced for GPS thefts

A former Garmin employee in Olathe has been sentenced to 33 months in federal prison for stealing and reselling boxes of GPS devices.

Terrence M. Heathington, 32, who now lives in Atlanta, also was ordered to pay more than $2 million in restitution.

While working at Garmin’s warehouse in Olathe, Heathington stole a “large quantity” of the devices that he and friends resold, according to federal prosecutors.
