Burglars unable to steal rings off a man’s fingers punched him in the mouth early Thursday, the victim told Kansas City police.

The homeowner said he was in bed asleep when he heard loud banging in the hallway about 4:30 a.m. in the 500 block of Gladstone Boulevard.

The burglars approached the homeowner while he still was in bed. They made several attempts to take the rings off his fingers but were unsuccessful.

One burglar became frustrated and punched the man in the mouth. The intruders took the man’s cellphones and clothing before fleeing.

Police did not have a detailed description of the burglars.
