A 26-year-old Kansas City man was charged with second-degree murder for allegedly shooting his father-in-law in the face early Wednesday.
It was the fifth homicide in Kansas City in six days.
According to court documents, Marlon Eason, 39, was arguing with Guess’s mother and pulling her hair just before 1 a.m. at a residence at 4521 S. Benton Blvd. Guess and his mother both told police that Guess shot Eason from a distance of about 10 feet.
Guess left the scene before police arrived but turned himself in about 2:40 a.m. at the East Patrol Division.

Kansas City, which experienced a large drop in homicides in 2014, has recorded one killing per day every day since Sunday. So far this year, the city has recorded eight homicides, which matches the total for January 2014.
