$200 armed robbery in Kansas City results in 25-year prison sentence
A Kansas City man who robbed a Mexican restaurant after first trying to pay for a meal with counterfeit money was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years in federal prison.
Jamane J. Smith, 31, previously pleaded guilty in Kansas City to robbery and using a firearm during a crime of violence.
According to court documents, Smith robbed Pancho’s Mexican Food in the 3500 block of Main Street on Feb. 2, 2014.
After ordering a meal, he tried to pay with a counterfeit $20 bill, according to the documents. When employees refused the bill, Smith pulled out a handgun and demanded money.
He fled with $200.
