Kansas City, Kan., officers early Sunday shot a man in the leg after he pointed a shotgun at them, police said. Officers had been called to a house in the 8500 block of Troup Avenue on a report that a man was breaking things inside.

Kansas City, Kan., police early Sunday shot a man in the leg after he pointed a shotgun at them, police said.

The incident happened about 2:30 a.m. in the 8500 block of Troup Avenue. Police said a man told them his brother was breaking things inside a residence.

Officers tried to calm the brother, but as they were leaving he came to the front door with a shotgun, police said. Officers shot the man in the leg. Police said the wound was not life-threatening.

The officers were not injured.
