A Kansas federal judge sentenced a former municipal technology director Tuesday to a year and a day in prison for defrauding the city of Lenexa.
Andrew L. Davey, 44, of Overland Park, pleaded guilty to wire fraud in October, admitting that while he worked for the city from 2010 to 2012 he used city money to purchase iPads, computers, digital cameras and televisions for his benefit.
Prosecutors said he gave the gear to friends, traded the devices for other goods and services, or simply sold the equipment online, keeping the proceeds.
The judge also ordered Davey to pay more than $103,000 in restitution.
