Former Johnson County music teacher pleads guilty to molesting kids
A former music instructor pleaded guilty Wednesday to sexually molesting some of his young students.
Sean Andrew Dow, 29, of Overland Park, pleaded guilty in Johnson County District Court to one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child younger than 14.
The crime carries a sentence of 25 years to life in prison. His sentencing was scheduled for Aug. 11.
Dow was initially charged last year with sexually abusing two students he gave music lessons to at Funky Munky Music in Shawnee.
After a later investigation by police, they learned of four other victims.
All six of those victims were included in the charge that Dow pleaded guilty to Wednesday.
After he was charged, Dow was placed on house arrest as a condition of bond. He removed an electronic monitoring device and fled, but he was arrested in California and returned to Johnson County.
Dow is also facing charges in Jackson County Circuit Court for first-degree statutory sodomy, first-degree child molestation, sexual exploitation of a minor and possession of child pornography.
The Jackson County charges involve a 7-year-old girl in Kansas City.
