Child shot in leg in Kansas City

Police were investigating a shooting Wednesday morning in Kansas City that injured a child.

The shooting occurred around 6 a.m. in the 4400 block of Myrtle Avenue, Kansas City Police Chief Darryl Forté said via Twitter.

The child sustained a leg injury. The shot might have been fired from outside the residence, Forté said.

Police were continuing to investigate the shooting.
