Surveillance images of a van allegedly used in the theft of a wheelchair led Shawnee police to recover the wheelchair and return it to the owner on Friday.

Shawnee police recovered a stolen wheelchair Friday and returned it to the owner, who had reported the theft late last month.

The wheelchair had been stolen from an employee at a Lowe’s store on April 28, according to Shawnee police.

Police released images of a van captured on surveillance video outside the store in the 16300 block of West 65th Street.

Police located the van Friday, recovered the wheelchair and returned it to the owner that afternoon.

The investigation into the theft is ongoing, and no charges have been filed yet, a spokesman said.
