Man charged in Kansas City bank robbery
A paroled bank robber was charged Thursday with holding up another bank near downtown Kansas City Wednesday morning.
Kansas City police arrested Mario A. Holmes shortly after the robbery of the UMB branch at 1800 Grand Blvd.
They spotted Holmes, 35, boarding a city bus several blocks away, according to documents filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Kansas City. Officers stopped the bus and found Holmes carrying a bag containing the same amount of money reportedly taken in the robbery, according to the documents.
He later told investigators that he had been released from federal prison about a year ago after serving 12 years for bank robbery, according to court records.
