KC rape suspect surrenders after long standoff
Jackson County prosecutors are expected to file charges as soon as today against a man who allegedly raped a neighbor then refused to surrender to police, sparking a standoff that lasted more than five hours.
Officers responding to the rape call about 9:30 p.m. Sunday interviewed a woman who said the man raped her in his East 41st Street home. Officers saw the man inside the home. After he refused to come out, they set up a perimeter and brought in a negotiator.
The man surrendered about 3 a.m. Monday, police said.
