Bomb squad disposes of Missouri City device
Authorities on Thursday disposed of an explosive device left near the front door of a Missouri City residence.
At about 8:15 a.m., the Clay County Sheriff’s Office received a report about the small, apparently home-made device at a home in the 400 block of Main Street. Sheriff’s deputies secured the area, not far from a small park and playground, and determined the device could contain shrapnel.
They requested assistance from the Independence Police bomb squad, which deployed a robot to secure and dispose of the device.
The incident remains under investigation. Missouri City is about eight miles east of Liberty, just north of the Missouri River.
