Embezzler’s expensive car collection goes up for auction in Kansas City
Federal authorities soon will be auctioning off a fleet of expensive cars and motorcycles seized from an Overland Park man convicted of embezzling more than $4 million from his employer.
Among the 25 vehicles up for auction are a dozen Ducati motorcycles, a Ford Mustang Cobra Jet, a Ferrari 430 Scuderia, a Ford GT, a Mosler MT900S and a McLaren 12C.
The vehicles were seized by the U.S. Marshals Service from Thomas Hauk, who pleaded guilty in December to stealing more than $4 million from Assured Management Co., a financial services company affiliated with professional golfer Tom Watson.
Potential buyers can preview the vehicles from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at KCI Auto Auction at 11101 N. Congress Ave. The auction will take place at the same location beginning at noon Thursday. The registration deadline to participate in the auction is Wednesday at noon.
Additional information can be found online at http://kciaa.com/marshals-auction.
Hauk is awaiting sentencing.
