Infant is injured in shooting near 51st and Walrond
A 3-month-old boy was injured in a shooting early Saturday in Kansas City.
According to police, the boy’s mother said she was driving near 51st Street and Walrond Avenue shortly after midnight when she heard the sound of gunshots. After pulling over, she and a passenger saw that the infant had been shot in the right hand. The mother drove her son to Research Medical Center.
When officers arrived at the hospital around 12:48 a.m., they observed that the car’s rear passenger side window had been broken out and that a bullet had struck the rear quarter panel on the passenger side. No other evidence was discovered in the area of 51st and Walrond, and no suspects have been identified.
