Rail worker dies after falling into carload of grain in KCK

A railroad worker died Monday morning after falling into a loaded grain car in Kansas City, Kan.

The Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department said the accident occurred about 9:30 a.m. Monday in the rail yard near 42nd Street and Kansas Avenue.

Workers were transferring grain from the rail car to a tractor-trailer when the man fell into the rail car and sunk into the grain, according to fire officials. By the time rescue crews were able to remove the grain and get to the man, he had died.

The man’s name will be released after family members are notified, officials said.
