Couple who turned each other in are both sentenced for child porn
A woman and her former husband — who vied to report each other for child pornography — were sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in prison.
Ernest “Andy” Britten, 37, of Joplin, and his former wife, Kendra Britten, 34, of Miami, Okla., were sentenced in U.S. District Court in Springfield, where both had pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography over the Internet.
Kendra Britten took a computer to the Joplin Police Department in 2011 and told police it contained child pornography.
She told officers that she decided to turn in the computer because her then-husband had threatened to report her for possessing child pornography, according to federal prosecutors.
Investigators later found 59 videos and 29 still images of child pornography.
They each were charged in federal court but were not found by police until 2014, when authorities in Oklahoma notified Missouri authorities that the Brittens were being investigated on allegations of sexual abuse of a child, according to prosecutors.
