Murder attempt alleged in Overland Park shooting
A 20-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man has been charged with attempted murder for a shooting at an Overland Park apartment complex.
Verlee Jefferson was arrested Friday and booked into the Johnson County Jail on a charge of attempted first-degree murder. His bond is set at $500,000, according to jail records.
Overland Park police said the shooting occurred early in the morning of July 5 at a complex near Interstate 35 and Antioch Road.
The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening, police said.
Jefferson’s first court appearance is scheduled for Monday in Johnson County District Court.
