Trial set in Shawnee homicide

A November trial date was set Thursday for a teenager charged with killing his father last year in Shawnee.

Dalton Gay, 15, is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Darren Gay last July.

The November 3 trial will be held in the juvenile division of Johnson County District Court after a judge denied a request by prosecutors to have Dalton tried as an adult.

Dalton, who was 14 at the time of the killing, remains in the custody of the juvenile detention center.
