Kidnapping suspect is arrested following police chase in KC and KCK
Kansas City police arrested a motorist Thursday who led police on a high-speed pursuit that began at Independence and Prospect avenues and went into Kansas and back into Missouri, including the downtown loop.
The incident began about 12:10 p.m. when officers learned someone possibly had forced a woman into a vehicle. An officer located a vehicle believed to have been involved, but the driver sped away, said police spokeswoman Sgt. Kari D. Thompson.
The pursuit went down Bruce Watkins Drive at one point and into Kansas City, Kan., at another. It eventually wound through downtown near the Sprint Center and south on Grand Boulevard. It ended at West Pennway and Jefferson Street, where police arrested the driver.
Police later learned that the woman had not been forced into the vehicle. They released her at the arrest scene.
No injuries were reported.
