Kansas City woman admits embezzling $213,090 from Bank of America
A Kansas City woman admitted Tuesday that she stole more than $200,000 while working for the Bank of America.
Elisha Nicole Araiza, 35, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Kansas City to a charge of embezzlement by a bank employee.
Araiza had worked since 2004 as a financial analyst for Bank of America.
In 2011, while experiencing personal financial issues, she deposited a bank customer’s money order into her own account, according to federal prosecutors.
She continued to divert client checks into her personal accounts until March 19, 2015, when the embezzlement was discovered by Bank of America.
Bank officials found that Araiza had illegally diverted 121 loan payment checks totaling $213,090, prosecutors said.
A sentencing hearing has not been scheduled.
