Man is sentenced to prison for illegally re-entering U.S.
A Mexican man who was deported after shooting at a police officer has been sentenced to prison for illegally re-entering the United States.
Francisco Ortega-Montalvo, 36, was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court in Kansas City to four years and three months in prison.
Ortega-Montalvo was deported in 2013 and barred from entering the United States after he served an Arkansas prison sentence for shooting at a police officer, according to federal prosecutors.
He was arrested at his home in Platte City in December 2014 and was convicted last year of illegally re-entering the country.
