Two Kansas City men are indicted in Brookside bank robbery
A Kansas City man and his stepson have been indicted in the armed robbery of a Kansas City bank.
Gregory Burgin, 58, and Howard T. Patton, 37, are charged with the March 12 robbery of Bank Midwest at 6429 Brookside Blvd. They are also charged with aiding and abetting each other to brandish firearms during a crime of violence and with being felons in possession of firearms.
The indictment handed down Wednesday replaces a criminal complaint filed earlier against Burgin.
During the robbery, one of the two gunmen grabbed a customer and pushed him to the ground. One pointed a gun at a teller and cocked the hammer while demanding money, according to court documents.
The teller placed the money in a duffel bag and the robbers fled.
A short time later, police saw a vehicle parked in Burgin’s driveway that matched the description of the getaway car.
Inside the house, officers found a bag containing the amount of money taken in the robbery, guns and clothing matching the description of what the robbers wore, the documents say.
