Woman is sexually assaulted in Raytown after car breaks down

Raytown police said a woman was sexually assaulted Monday morning by a man who gave her a ride after her car broke down.

A 41-year-old man was later arrested in connection with the incident.

Police said the 24-year-old woman’s car broke down on Interstate 435 near 63rd Street. She accepted a ride from a man who stopped and asked if she needed help, police said.

After first stopping at a convenience store, the man drove her to a parking lot in the 9400 block of East 63rd Street, where she was sexually assaulted.

Police said he then drove her back to her vehicle. Police did not say how they located the suspect.
