Police arrest intruder hiding in Kansas City apartment
Kansas City police early Thursday arrested a man hiding in the bedroom of an apartment that he had forced his way inside.
Police said officers were sent about 3:30 a.m. to the 5000 block of Troost Avenue to investigate a non-injury wreck.
While on their way, officers received an update that the driver had hidden a handgun and was behind a nearby building. Additional officers were summoned to the scene. The driver then forced his way into a secure-entry apartment building.
As the officers followed him, the man kicked open the door to an occupied apartment and forced his way inside. Officers arrested him as he hid in a bedroom.
The man is suspected of hit and run, burglary and possession of a stolen gun, police said.
