A Kansas City man previously convicted of burning a dead body inside a portable toilet was charged Wednesday with illegally possessing a firearm.

Sean A. Lloyd was arrested by Kansas City police on a traffic stop late Tuesday and had a 9 mm handgun in the car he was driving, according to documents filed in U.S. District Court in Kansas City.

Because he is a convicted felon, it is illegal for him to possess a firearm.

Lloyd, 25, has several prior felony convictions, according to the documents, and was on probation in cases out of Florida and Jackson County.

In the Jackson County case, Lloyd was convicted of knowingly burning and abandoning a corpse. After a friend fatally shot himself in 2014, Lloyd took the body to the Longview Lake area, placed it inside the portable toilet and set it on fire.
