Overland Park police shoot man

Overland Park police released few details Thursday about an incident in which an officer shot a man at an apartment complex.

Police were called to the apartments in the 5600 block of Marty Street, near Metcalf Avenue, at 3:40 p.m. to check on the welfare of a resident. At some point, after making contact with the man, shots were fired. A police spokeswoman could not provide details except to say that the man was shot by an officer and taken to a hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

No officers were injured. Police were continuing to investigate late Thursday. The officer involved was placed on routine administrative leave.
