Trial ordered in kidnapping attempt outside Mission grocery store
A 33-year-old Overland Park man has been ordered to stand trial for the attempted kidnapping of a woman outside a Mission grocery store.
A Johnson County judge on Thursday ruled there is probable cause to try Bradlee Earl Lloyd Campbell on charges of attempted kidnapping, attempted aggravated robbery and aggravated battery.
The incident occurred in early February.
The woman was loading groceries into her car outside the Hy-Vee store in the 6600 block of Martway Street when a man armed with a knife tried to force the victim into her vehicle. She suffered several cuts while scuffling with the assailant before he fled.
Police arrested Campbell a short time later.
After Thursday’s hearing, Campbell’s attorney entered not-guilty pleas on his behalf. Campbell’s next hearing is April 1. He remains in the county jail on $250,000 bond.
