Police identify woman found dead in Independence parking lot

Authorities have identified a woman whose body was found early Tuesday in a parking lot in the 3500 block of South Noland Road as 53-year-old LaVeeta A. Burton of Independence.

Police said there were no signs of trauma or foul play. The Jackson County medical examiner was working to determine the cause of death and police are continuing their investigation. No other details were available, said Officer Tom Gentry, police spokesman.
