Man sentenced for recording child porn at Lawrence home

A Kansas man who used a cellphone to record pictures of a friend’s 11-year-old daughter was sentenced Thursday to more than 24 years in prison.

Ken Theis, 56, of Perry, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Kan., where he was previously convicted of attempting to produce child pornography.

Theis used his phone to record the girl getting in and out of the shower at a Lawrence house. Authorities found also found other child pornography on his cellphone and a laptop computer.

He was sentenced Thursday to 24 years and four months in federal prison.
