Raytown police car and officer struck

A Raytown police officer was taken to a hospital for evaluation after his patrol car was struck by another vehicle.

Police said the officer was in his car about 6:40 p.m. while investigating a separate crash in the 9600 block of East Missouri 350 when a semi struck from behind. The driver of the truck was taken into custody. Police said alcohol may have been a factor.

The officer was taken to a hospital by ambulance as a precaution. Police said later he was not seriously injured.
