Warsaw, Mo., man is charged in police chase, wreck on Blue Ridge Cutoff in Independence
A Warsaw, Mo., man is facing charges in connection with a police chase and wreck Thursday night in Independence.
Brandon Hembree, 33, was charged Friday with resisting a traffic stop and leaving the scene of an accident, both felonies, and a misdemeanor count of driving with a revoked driver’s license.
Jackson County prosecutors accused Hembree of refusing to stop for Independence police, leading to a pursuit that ended when the truck he allegedly was driving was involved in a wreck with another vehicle on Blue Ridge Cutoff at Interstate 70.
The driver and a passenger in the truck ran from police and were arrested by Independence and Kansas City police.
The truck had been reported stolen in Kansas City. Hembree’s license had been revoked in 2014 after convictions for fleeing police and leaving the scene of an accident.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $10,000.
