A 24-year-old Independence man is facing charges in connection with a traffic accident that left another driver hospitalized with injuries on Feb. 26.

Ethan P. Watts is charged with assault, leaving the scene of an accident and driving on a suspended license. He is accused of driving a pickup truck that was involved in an accident on U.S. 24 near Parker Avenue, according to court records.

The accident left another driver severely injured, police said. The truck had been reported stolen and the driver left the scene. Watts was arrested a short time later.

Watts was also charged Monday with attempted robbery and armed criminal action in connection with a Feb. 17 incident after a man reported an attempted carjacking at an Independence car wash.
