Kansas City, Kan., man sentenced to more than 57 years for murder, attempted murder

A Wyandotte County judge has sentenced a Kansas City, Kan., man to more than 57 years in prison for the murder of a woman and attempted murder of a man a year ago.

District Judge Michael Grosko sentenced Scottie E. Lindsay, 31, to 57 years and four months in prison.

A Wyandotte County jury in January found Lindsay guilty of fatally shooting Melinda Bates Fuller, who was 37 at the time of her death. He also wounded Julius Lamont Boyd.

Lindsay shot Boyd and Fuller multiple times during an argument on March 19, 2015, at Boyd’s home in the 800 block of North 70th Street in Kansas City, Kan.

The jury found Lindsay guilty of one count each of intentional second-degree murder, attempted intentional second-degree murder and criminal possession of a firearm.
