Shots fired at Central Academy of Excellence high school

Kansas City police were investigating gunshots fired Monday afternoon outside the Central Academy of Excellence.

No one was injured in the shooting, which occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on the high school’s property in the 3200 block of Indiana Avenue.

Kansas City Public Schools officials said the district is cooperating with the Kansas City police investigation. But they were unable to say whether the shooting involved district students.

No arrests had been made.

School buses left the school on time and “everyone is safe,” district spokesman Ray Weikal said Monday afternoon.
