Kansas City man is accused of exposing himself multiple times
Jackson County prosecutors accuse a Kansas City man of exposing himself and masturbating in public places multiple times.
They charged Leroy Landum, 33, with four counts of first-degree sexual misconduct.
Authorities arrested Landum on Wednesday in the parking lot of a coffee shop at 41st and Main streets. Kansas City police detectives were conducting surveillance on him because of previous incidents. According to court documents, they saw him expose himself.
He was in “direct view” of people inside the coffee shop and at a school across the street, the documents allege.
Landum previously had been identified as a suspect in four other incidents reported by women in April and May, according to the documents. One of those occurred at Loose Park.
Another occurred where he was arrested on Main Street. The victim in that case told police that children were on the school playground at the time.
In the fourth incident, a woman who worked at an office in the River Market area told police that Landum was masturbating inside a vehicle parked on the street outside her windows.
A fifth incident occurred at Briarcliff Village in Kansas City, North, according to court documents, but Landum has not been charged in that case.
Landum made his initial court appearance Thursday. A judge ordered him not to have contact with children or go within 1,000 feet of schools or parks as a condition of his bond.
