A man used the threat of a weapon to hold up a south Kansas City bank and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to federal authorities.

The robbery occurred about noon at the Central Bank of the Midwest branch at 9740 Wornall Road. The robber handed the teller a note that indicated he was armed.

Witnesses said the man took the money and drove off in a dark-colored vehicle.

The robber was described as African-American, 25 to 30 years old with a slender build. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and eyeglasses.
