Guilty plea in KC heroin and meth distribution case

A 37-year-old Kansas City man was ordered Tuesday to forfeit more than $800,000 he made selling large amounts of heroin and methamphetamine.

Eric L. Harris pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Kansas City to charges of conspiracy to commit drug trafficking, illegal possession of a firearm and money laundering.

Between February 2012 and September 2014, Harris conspired to distribute more than four pounds of heroin and 12 pounds of methamphetamine, according to federal prosecutors.

He was arrested after running from a police traffic stop. A search of his home turned up drugs, $42,000 and seven firearms, prosecutors said.

As part of Tuesday’s plea agreement, Harris must forfeit $840,000 in drug proceeds and his house, which was bought for $23,000 in cash.

A sentencing date will be set later.
