Prison ordered in Wellington, Mo., embezzlement
A former Missouri road and fire district official was sentenced to federal prison Monday for embezzling more than $1.5 million.
Leland Ray Kolkmeyer, 59, of Wellington, Mo., received a three-year sentence.
Kolkmeyer served as treasurer of both the Wellington Napoleon Fire Protection District and Special Road District from 1998 until he resigned early last year.
He pleaded guilty in November to two counts of mail fraud. Prosecutors said he has paid $1 million in restitution and must pay an additional $530,159 as part of his sentence.
