Overnight Kansas City checkpoint yields 27 citations, arrests

Kansas City police and Jackson County deputies issued more than two dozen citations after conducting an overnight sobriety checkpoint Friday and Saturday.

The checkpoint was set up one block south of Independence Avenue on Prospect.

Four drivers were arrested for driving under the influence, police said. One person was arrested for alleged narcotics possession.

Twenty-two people were cited for driving on a suspended or revoked license, hazardous moving violations, or other traffic offenses.

In a statement, the department said it stopped 322 vehicles during the five-hour operation.
