Federal prosecutors have accused a 25-year-old man of trying to rob a letter carrier in Kansas City.
Richard H. Monk is charged with trying to rob the U.S. Postal Service worker Wednesday afternoon in the 500 block of Gillis Street.
The letter carrier was leaning into her marked mail van when Monk walked up and said hi, according to a court document.
He allegedly grabbed her shoulder and said, “I’m going to need you to shut the door, give me your keys and your cellphone.”
