A man who disrupted flights at Kansas City International Airport for several hours after falsely claiming to have a bomb pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court.

David James Cain, 35, of Kansas City, Kan., admitted that on Aug. 31, 2014, he told two people inside Terminal B that there was a bomb in a pickup truck he had parked outside.

He made the statements after a loudspeaker announcement was made that the truck would be towed if it was not moved, according to federal prosecutors.

No explosives were found in a search of the truck.

Cain was on parole at the time for a Kansas conviction for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, according to documents filed in U.S. District Court in Kansas City.

As part of Thursday’s plea agreement, attorneys will recommend a prison sentence of 18 months.
