KCK man who shot at police is indicted on federal charges
A Kansas City, Kan., man who allegedly fired shots at police officers as they served a search warrant at his house has been indicted on federal drug and weapons charges.
Federal prosecutors in Kansas City, Kan., said Ashawntus McCambry, 27, is charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana, unlawful possession of a firearm while trafficking in drugs and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
McCambry allegedly fired three shots in the direction of Kansas City, Kan., officers Dec. 22 as they served a search warrant on his house in the 800 block of Quindaro Boulevard, according to court documents.
After surrendering to officers, McCambry said he thought he was being robbed and didn’t know they were police. No officers were injured.
