Overland Park homicide victim identified

Overland Park police have identified the victim of a Monday homicide as 35-year-old Jennifer Lopez.

Officers responding to a medical call discovered Lopez dead about 5:30 p.m. Monday inside an apartment in the 6100 block of Foster Street, south of Shawnee Mission North High School.

Police said they were investigating the death as a homicide. Officers took an acquaintance of Lopez into custody for questioning, police said.

Johnson County jail records show that a 37-year-old man who lives in that same block was being held Tuesday on suspicion of first-degree murder.
