A Warsaw, Mo., woman is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of her husband in Kansas City, North, in November 2012.

Online records say Viola Patience Bowman, 53, is in the Benton County, Mo., jail on the indictment by a Clay County grand jury. The charges include armed criminal action. Bond is set at $1 million.

Police initially investigated the death of Albert “Rusty” Bowman, 53, as a possible home invasion at 5530 N.E. Munger Road. Viola Bowman said she found her husband’s body after returning from an errand to get dessert.

The couple had purchased a home in Warsaw, Mo., and planned to move there after Albert Bowman retired from the Kansas City Water Services Department.

At the time of the death, a relative said Viola Bowman kept asking, “What am I going to do without him?”

The couple had three adult daughters and several grandchildren.
