Butler, Mo., woman pleads guilty in fatal drunken driving wreck in south KC
A Butler, Mo., woman has been convicted of manslaughter in connection with a drunken driving accident that killed a woman last year.
Krestin A. Hawk, 25, pleaded guilty to first-degree involuntary manslaughter after the Feb. 15 accident in the 11500 block of Minor Drive in south Kansas City. Kaitlyn E. Turner, 23, also of Butler, died in the wreck.
According to court records, Hawk was driving a Chevrolet Blazer east on Minor Drive when the vehicle left the road, struck a metal light pole, overturned and hit a tree. Turner, a passenger in the Blazer, died at the scene.
A toxicology report indicated Hawk’s blood alcohol content was 0.128 percent. The legal limit in Missouri is 0.08 percent.
Hawk will be sentenced April 15.
