The Park Hill School District has issued a safety alert Monday after a 10-year-old elementary student reported a stranger approached him on Saturday and told him to get in the car.

The incident happened about 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Thousand Oaks Subdivision near the 6600 block of North Nevada Avenue in rural Platte County, according to the Platte County Sheriff’s Department.

A resident of the subdivision told deputies that her son was approached by a man driving a red, midsize sedan. The stranger drove the car up to the child, rolled down a window and told the boy to “jump in.”

The boy ran home and told his parents. A complete description of the man, who was thought to have been in his 40s, was not available.

The Sheriff’s Department has increased patrols in the area and asked anyone with information about the incident to call 816-858-3521.
