Spring Hill homicide victim identified
A man killed in rural Spring Hill Saturday was identified Sunday as Larry Rangel of Spring Hill.
Rangel, 56, was found dead of a possible gunshot Saturday inside his home on West 220th Street. The suspect, Mark Taylor, is in police custody. According to authorities, Taylor, 52, is Rangel’s roommate.
At around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, a man approached deputies in the sheriff’s office parking lot and told them that his friend, Taylor, had shot someone. The deputies determined that Taylor, who was in a car with the man who approached the deputies, had outstanding warrants in Johnson County. Upon his arrest, Taylor was found to have a handgun in his possession.
According to the Miami County Sheriff’s office, deputies had responded to a disturbance at Rangel and Taylor’s residence before.
The cause of the shooting is still under investigation.
