Man surrenders to police after fatal shooting in Kansas City

A man is in custody after a fatal shooting during a disturbance Sunday afternoon in the 2700 block of East Linwood Boulevard in Kansas City.

Police responded to a call reporting a shooting about 2:45 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a wounded man inside an apartment. The shooting victim was rushed to a hospital, where he died. The victim was in his early 20s.

A man fled on foot, police said. At about 4:15 p.m., the man turned himself in to police at the Metro Patrol Station at 7601 Prospect Ave.

Witnesses told police that the victim had been involved in a disturbance with another man at the time of the shooting.
