Body found by Kansas City trash collectors identified

A body discovered by city trash collectors on their route Friday morning was identified Saturday as Brandy Castaneda Helbock. She was 43 and lived in Kansas City.

Kansas City police launched a homicide investigation Friday morning after city trash collectors found human remains at 49th Street and Brooklyn Avenue.

Police did not release a cause of death or details of how the workers discovered the remains. The workers notified police about 8:30 a.m.

A police news release Saturday offered no other details on the case.
